• Flowers and garlands express beauty, welcome, and impermanence. Fresh or carefully made reusable garlands may be appropriate depending on the practice.
• Fruit, sweets, or other food may be offered and later received as prasad. Follow ordinary food-safety requirements and any dietary rules of the tradition.
• A japa mala supports counted mantra repetition before, during, or after worship, depending on the lineage.

Begin with care, not complexity

A clean surface, a single image, a lamp, water, or flowers can be more meaningful than an elaborate arrangement assembled without context. Learn the pronunciation and purpose of what you recite. Keep fire safety in mind. When a ritual belongs to a specific initiated practice, seek instruction from an appropriate teacher.
